The Joker
I watched Batman, Mask of The Phantasm the other night for the first time in ages.
Brilliant! Mark Hamill is the business voicing the Joker.... couldn't resist grabbing the ol' pencil and paper and trying a quick sketch. So first up is the pencil drawing and then, after some digital jiggery pokery, the colour version.

2d Festival
Just Back from the 2d Festival in Derry... just the best little comics festival.
Spent all day on Saturday drawing pics. Some of the requests were a bit of a challenge, especially the top pic: a hunter from Halo. Fortunately, Stephen who requested it brought a book for reference with him.
I forgot my camera so these pics were taken with my crappy camera phone and are the least fuzzy of all the ones I took.
For anyone who loves comics.... get to Derry if you can, it's just magic!

Spaceships
These are the pencils I've just done for an Armada of Spaceships.
I've rarely had occasion to draw spaceships, so it was a little bit outside the comfort zone.
Amazingly though, once I got started I found myself about five or six hours later still drawing spaceships.
There's a lot more drawing to be done, but if I get a chance to do some digital tweaking and colouring on this, I'll post the results.

This is the cover and one of the interior pages.

Artists Sketchbook Project

Kildare County Council Arts Service have organised an Artists Sketchbook Project whereby all interested parties got the same sketchbook sent out to them to do whatever they wanted with. I decided to keep mine very random and doodle in it whenever I needed a rest from other work. The only rule I made for myself was that I would only use black pens. Once the mark was made, it's made and it has to become the drawing.
An exhibition of all the sketchbooks will be in the Riverbank in Newbridge shortly
These are a few sketchs from my sketchbook.

Mindfield 2011
This is one of my doodles from the Mindfield Festival this weekend.
A bunch of pencil monkeys were organised by Phil, of Dublin Comic Jam fame, to do some visual reportage using pencil & paper and the occasional marker. Check out Mindfield-Reportage to see the fruits of our labours. One hell of a fun weekend!

Crazy Hobo
This month's contribution to the Collective Thinking Blog. The theme this month is 'Crazy Hobo'.
I'm tempted to say nothing about my illo and let you make of it what you will..... Yep, I think I'll leave you to imagine your own story about what's going on here... More fun that way.

This is my posting for the Collective Thinking Blog.
I decided to do a pencil drawing and experiment with digitally tweaking it. So, the b&w version is the original drawing scanned and then I played with the brightness and contrast levels. Then I gave the drawing a light colour wash using digital watercolours, leaving the pencil lines and textures to come through. I like playing with this mix of analogue and digital doodling.

Eva Procopio
My favourite story in 2000AD at the moment is Shakara, Avenger by Robbie Morrison.
It's drawn by Henry Flint, who unbeknowst to him, ellicits squeals of delight every week from yours truely.
There's only one more part to go, damn. If the Mighty Tharg, in his wisdom, should see fit to further proliferate this brilliant piece of work by publishing a TBP of same, get it, read it, drool over it, treasure it.
Eva Procopio is the business and Shakara is such a cool character to draw. I think I'll have to do another doodle with Shakara kicking arse next.

Thumb-Print Portrait
This is my post for this month's Collective Thinking blog. We had to do a self portrait for each day of the month. Life and other projects consume most of my time, and I didn't want this month's challenge to become an arduous chore... I reckon this fun solution does the job. And it was exactly that, a hell of a lot of good ol' doodle-fun!

| Harley Quinn pencils |
Playtime! Decided to experiment... scribbled the pencils as usual but then threw caution to the wind. Whipped out a sheet of Bristol, a dip pen, a couple of brushes and some ink. Went all old school on it. Have to take a nerd moment and say that the feeling of an ink pen gliding over the smooth surface of the paper leaving a super black line in it's wake: magic! I had so much fun inking this page.
The old brain was mush from concentrating on not making a splotchy, inky mess, so t'was very nice to get to the safety of ctrl z and play with the colour. Aaah... Harley Quinn is so much fun to draw.

Doodle of Alien Dudes
Started some random doodling and ended up with these guys, aliens who like Ikea, well at least one of them does. I liked them so much, I had to go the whole hog and colour them.
This doodle is dedicated to Hilbo who is just the best at kicking me in the pants when I need it.

Rain-Arse! Doodle for Dave
It's always good fun when your mates go on a minor rant that, amidst the smirking, causes a little lightbulb to spark up and there's nothin' for it but to get doodling.

Cards
Was commisioned recently to do a couple of cards. One for someone leaving their current position and one retirement.
One digitally coloured and then printed. The other, good old fashioned pen & ink and watercolour wash. (which of course didn't scan particularly well). Good fun mucking about with a paint brush though, hadn't done that in ages.

This is my first contribution to the Collective Thinking Blog. This month's theme was 'Incompetent Assassin'. Go check out the blog to see how it works and have a gander at everyone else's pics.

A biro doodle of a robot for Kevin from the Trinity Arts Workshop on comics.
He's making a very cool Art Book of robots with contributions from everyone he meets.

Messin' about with a black biro, making it up as I went along.
A lot of fun... think I'll be playing with biros some more.

The Full Monty

After a bit of a chat with Gar, we decided to put 'Some Blue Bloke' in it's entirety up on our respective blogs. 'Some Blue Bloke' had a limited print run of 50. While there are some left, Gar feels it would be a shame to deprive the world and future generations, so here we are, on the internet, for ever and ever and ever..... He has a doctors cert to confirm that he doesn't suffer from Hubris and it's not contagious anyway.

We'll be flinging it out into the world this weekend at Edition Book Arts.
Do meander by, for a truly unique afternoon.

Googley googley goo

Supposed to be drawing... got sucked in to the interweb...
several hours later, did this quick doodle.
However, I have now found a lot of lovely weekend-away destinations in ireland, and have also plotted my travel arrangements and accomodation for at least three trips abroad.
Now all I need is an indulgent boyfriend or comfortable lotto-win.
